The Toronto Blue Jays came up inches short in the World Series this year, losing in extra innings in Game Seven. What they need now is to find that player who finally puts them over the top and brings them a third championship.
Fansided’s Christopher Kline predicts that the player could be Los Angeles Angels three-time MVP Mike Trout. Trout would be an amazing upgrade from Addison Barger in right field, and could replace the bat of Bo Bichette if he leaves in free agency.

“The Toronto Blue Jays can slide Mike Trout into right field rather easily. Addison Barger can move over to third base, which becomes especially unproblematic if Bo Bichette departs and leaves a vacancy in the infield…All that said, Toronto has the spending power and the competitive appetite to at least consider Trout, should he give the Angels his blessing to move on. Trout has significant control over where he ends up in this hypothetical world and the reigning AL champs are as desirable a landing spot as you'll find,” Kline wrote.
This past season, Trout slashed.232/.359/.439/.797 with 14 doubles, 26 home runs, and 64 RBI in 130 games played. Combine that with the bats of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, and Bichette if he stays, and the Jays have the best lineup in the American League.
The only catch to this is that the main target for Toronto this offseason is Kyle Tucker. If they land him, then acquiring Trout would be pointless, since they both play the same position, and Tucker is much younger and less injury-prone.
However, if the Jays don’t land Tucker, this is definitely one of their better options. Hopefully, Toronto realizes that and keeps this trade in its back pocket.
