The Toronto Blue Jays have finally dominated the AL East for the first time in a decade, winning the division for the first time since 2015. However, just because they conquered this year, doesn’t mean they can relax with the roster they have now.

There’s always a need to upgrade. Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey believes they will, predicting the Jays will pursue and acquire Philadelphia Phillies All-Star pitcher Ranger Suarez.

“Ranger Suarez feels like he's on the way out in Philadelphia. The Phillies have to commit to paying Kyle Schwarber and they already have a ton of money locked into the top end of their rotation with Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola…He seems set for a huge pay day somewhere outside the NL East with a team that needs an ace-caliber pitcher and/or someone who can deliver in the postseason. Suarez would be a good fit in Toronto because he balances out the current rotation the Blue Jays have. Adding a left-hander who can get batters out in different ways would be a nice complement to Gausman and Bieber,” Tansey wrote.

This season, Suarez posted a 12-8 record with an ERA of 3.20, 151 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.220 over 157 innings pitched.

Suarez would be a great pickup for the Jays. He’s a lefty complement to the other top pitchers in the rotation in Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber, and he slots into the third spot perfectly.

This could give the Jays a great 1-2-3 punch, giving them a chance to lock down on the defensive side of the ball and provide the offense an easy chance to sweep teams if the pitchers go in order.

Hopefully the Jays pursue Suarez, so they can keep their control of the AL East for just a bit longer.
