Blue Jays' Ernie Clement is on verge of Toronto franchise record in World Series image

Ernie Clement's postseason has been special.

And in the closing stages of the World Series, he has a chance to tie or break a Toronto Blue Jays franchise record.

The current record for longest playoff hitting streak by a Blue Jays player is 12 games, which Pat Borders set in 1992.

Clement enters Game 6 of the World Series riding an 11-game hit streak.

He can tie the record with a knock in Game 6.

Then comes the tricky part, of course. This record is incredibly insignificant relative to winning the World Series.

But if the Dodgers win Game 6 and force a seventh game, Clement could then break the record in Game 7 on Saturday.

Obviously, the Blue Jays would prefer to take care of business on Friday night and start the party.

But if that ends up not being in the cards, Clement could be a key piece to a Game 7 bounceback, in a way that both sets a record and also helps win the biggest trophy.

Regardless of if Clement gets there, it's already been a special postseason for him.

For most of it, Clement was above.400 in batting average, although he's fallen just below that now.

In Game 5, Clement had a single and a sacrifice fly.

If he can deliver again in Game 6, that might get the Blue Jays over the line.
