Blue Jays get encouraging update on free agent desires for Bo Bichette, Kyle Tucker image

The Toronto Blue Jays' fanbase went from near-ecstasy to total agony in Game 7 of the World Series.

The good news is that Toronto appears to be doing everything it can to avoid that happening again.

The Blue Jays have already signed expensive right-hander Dylan Cease in free agency.

And the latest prognosis from MLB.com's Jared Greenspan and Theo DeRosa is that the Blue Jays aren't done, either.

In a new article, they expect Toronto to keep going after Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker, and to land at least one, if not both.

"The Blue Jays still have a big opportunity to build on their pennant-winning season by adding to their lineup," the duo from MLB.com wrote on Thursday. "That could be as simple as re-signing Bichette, a life-long Blue Jay who led the AL in hits in 2021 and 2022 and received down-ballot MVP votes after an impressive 2025. Toronto -- which famously missed out on Shohei Ohtani two offseasons ago -- has once again been tied to the top free agents, including Tucker and Bregman. In fact, Tucker visited the team's player development complex in Dunedin, Fla., earlier in December. Headlined by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. And George Springer, the Blue Jays’ lineup is excellent as constructed, even without Bichette. But their offseason wouldn’t truly be complete without adding a big bat -- or perhaps two."

The Blue Jays can't sit still too long, either, because the AL East Division has a chance to be the most competitive in baseball, and the Orioles and Red Sox in particular are making moves, too.

Toronto has proven to itself it can ascend to the edge of the mountaintop. Now it's about finding a way to take that last step fully to the peak.
