Blue Jays' Bo Bichette free agent plan gets major update after Kyle Tucker to Dodgers news image

The Toronto Blue Jays were after Kyle Tucker, but they weren't the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers are going to pay Tucker $60 million per year over a four-year deal, and the Blue Jays evidently couldn't offset that with a longer-term offer.

And now that leaves Toronto with some money to spend. The Blue Jays were clearly ready to shell out big bucks to Tucker.

It might be time to circle back on Bo Bichette.

This is what MLB.com wrote on Thursday night:

"Tucker’s agreement with the Dodgers could also cause the Blue Jays to circle back with their longtime shortstop, Bo Bichette, who remains unsigned as well. Toronto’s chances of re-signing Bichette appeared to be fading as the club ramped up its pursuit of Tucker after landing third baseman Kazuma Okamoto. But now that Tucker is no longer an option, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the aggressive Blue Jays pivot to Bichette."

The Blue Jays won't have to pay Bichette as much as they would've paid Tucker, but considering Alex Bregman just went off the board for five years and $175 million, Bichette won't be coming cheap, either.

In the end, it'd be cool for Toronto to keep its homegrown pairing of Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Together.

In 2025, they came so close to getting the Blue Jays a World Series crown.

Missing out on Tucker could mean the Blue Jays bring Bichette back and run it back to try and get that final win they needed.
