The Toronto Blue Jays put themselves in a hole by losing the first two games of the American League Championship Series at home to the Seattle Mariners.

However, the Blue Jays took the first step in the right direction on Wednesday night by winning Game 3 of the ALCS, the first game in Seattle.

The Blue Jays had scored just four combined runs through the first two games of the season, and exploded for 13 runs on Wednesday night, leading to their first win of the series.

Blue Jays bats explode in historic fashion

Although Game 3 was the Blue Jays first win of the ALCS, it wasn't the first time their offense had exploded this postseason. Just ask the New York Yankees.

The Blue Jays also scored 13 runs in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Yankees. Wednesday night was the second time this postseason the Blue Jays scored at least 13 runs and collected at least 15 hits.

Toronto became the first team since the Boston Red Sox in 1999 to accomplish the feat twice in one postseason, and just the fourth team to do so in MLB history, according to Just Baseball.

Game 3 didn't start great for the Blue Jays, but they responded for a massive win to keep the ALCS at 2-1 in the Mariners favor rather than 3-0.

The Mariners jumped on the board first with a Julio Rodriguez two-run home run in the first inning. However, the Blue Jays responded with an Andrés Giménez two-run home run of their own to even the score.

Then, it was all Toronto from there on. The Blue Jays scored 12 unanswered runs and put Game 3 away by the sixth inning.

Now, the challenge is to do it again. The Seattle crowd was electric for Game 3, and you better believe it'll be even louder in Game 4 knowing what's at stake.

The Blue Jays will have Max Scherzer on the mound for Game 4, while the Mariners will rely on Luis Castillo. Toronto will look to even the series at two, while Seattle will attempt to take a 3-1 lead in the ALCS on Thursday.
