After dropping the first two games of the ALCS at home, the Toronto Blue Jays now head on the road to Seattle for game three of the ALCS, which is an absolute must-win for the Blue Jays.
In the ALDS against the Yankees, Toronto's bats were fully awake, but the pitching staff for Seattle has been much more formidable this season, and it's showing early on in this series. However, the Blue Jays did get some good news regarding Anthony Santander, who was removed from the contest on Monday.
Blue Jays hope that Anthony Santander will be available for game three
After being removed from Monday's game two against the Mariners, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Anthony Santander's removal was a precautionary measure.
On Tuesday, Schneider made the note that Santander is "feeling better today" and the Blue Jays hope he is good to go for Wednesday's contest, whether in the outfield or in the DH slot. If he is the DH, that would move George Springer to the outfield.
This is a good development for the Blue Jays ahead of the biggest game of their season. Santander has had a down season when you compare it to his 40+ home run season in 2024, but he provides Toronto with another left-handed bat against the Mariners' right-handed dominant pitching staff.
If the Blue Jays do drop game three, it will be awfully hard to come back down 3-0, with two more games left to be played in Seattle. Toronto will send Shane Bieber out to the mound for game three, and the Mariners' starter will be George Kirby.
