The Texas Rangers are coming off quite a disappointing season.

Because of that, they may look to shake things up this offseason, and that could include getting rid of two veteran players.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported notable news on both outfielder Adolis Garcia and catcher Jonah Heim in a new article out Tuesday:

"The Rangers are trying to deal outfielder Adolis García and catcher Jonah Heim before Friday's tender deadline. If they can't get a deal, both are nontender candidates."

The Rangers nontendering Garcia and Heim would essentially mean they aren't extending them a new contract for 2026, cutting them into free agency instead.

It's been quite the fall for Garcia after being a postseason hero just a few years ago.

Heim is an intriguing, switch-hitting catcher who regressed a decent amount at the plate in 2025. He's also quite tall for a backstop, a reality that some don't like from a defensive perspective.

The Rangers do have quite a few aging pieces, though, and may be starting to see the writing on the wall.

They've got enough pitching, in particular, to continue competing if guys stay healthy. But there's also a path that includes Texas making a few more moves that look toward the future.

If too much of their team is over the hill, they won't reach big heights, anyway.

Garcia and Heim could wind up elsewhere for 2026, and that'd be a notable development in November.
