This is what Jacob deGrom used to look like.
Baseball fans weren't sure, for a long time, whether the former Mets superstar would ever return to form after battling injuries. But lately with the Rangers, deGrom looks like his old self.
On Friday night, he touched 100 mph with his fastball on multiple occasions, and he continued an incredible streak.
He's allowed two or fewer earned runs in 12 consecutive starts. That's the longest streak by any pitcher 35 or older in MLB history, per OptaStats. deGrom just turned 37 this week.
For the season, deGrom is 7-2 with a 2.24 ERA. He has 87 strikeouts in 88.1 innings pitched.

This is already the most innings he has thrown in a season since 2021.
Texas has had struggles at times, but deGrom has been the reason they've stayed afloat. He's been available every time through the rotation, and he's delivered almost every single time.
The cynic wonders how long deGrom can stay healthy.
But the baseball fan simply appreciates this. deGrom was once one of the best pitchers on the planet, and at least right now, it appears that he is once again.
