The Seattle Mariners' free agency work has begun.
On Tuesday, they inked veteran right-handed pitcher Randy Dobnak to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major league spring training, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
When Dobnak originally arrived in MLB with the Minnesota Twins, he had a fantastic handlebar mustache. It has expanded a bit now to include a big beard, too, although there's no telling what look he'll go with when he arrives in the spring.
Dobnak will turn 31 in January. He's a 6-foot-1, 230-pound right-handed pitcher.
Just the fact that Dobnak is in the majors at all is remarkable.
He went to college at Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia and was undrafted. He climbed the ladder relatively quickly, though, and debuted with the Minnesota Twins in 2019.

Dobnak has spent parts of five seasons at the MLB level with the Twins.
In 39 total appearances (21 starts), Dobnak has a 4.86 ERA. He has struck out 85 batters in 140.2 innings.
There likely isn't a ton of long-term upside with Dobnak. But he's the kind of reliable organization arm that's worth having around.
Dobnak did spend a portion of the 2025 season at Triple-A Toledo in the Detroit Tigers' organization, his first time in pro ball that he wasn't with the Twins.
Now, he heads to the Pacific Northwest for a new beginning.
