The Seattle Mariners will send Logan Gilbert to the mound for Sunday's ALCS Game 6 against the Toronto Blue Jays. Gilbert, who pitched in Game 2's 10-3 victory, will be entrusted to give his best so that the franchise can advance to its first-ever World Series. The decision was announced on Saturday.
In ALCS Game 2, the right-hander gave up two earned runs in three innings. He had an excellent ALDS, posting a 1.13 ERA in two appearances. He also pitched in relief in the 15-inning finale showdown against the Detroit Tigers.

Gilbert's biggest opponent in the game would be Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who has hit five home runs already this postseason. Guerrero Jr. enjoys a good record against the righty, going 6-15 at the plate with two home runs and two RBIs in 17 appearances.
When it comes to the Mariners' bullpen, Andrés Muñoz, Matt Brash and Gabe Speier, who combined for a near-flawless outing in Game 5, will be leaned on heavily again in Game 6.
Who will rival Logan Gilbert from Blue Jays?
The Blue Jays will give the ball to rookie Trey Yesavage to start ALCS Game 6 against the Mariners. He struggled in ALCS Game 2, allowing five runs over four innings.
With the Blue Jays' World Series dreams on the line, the rookie would like to replicate his ALDS performance. In Game 2 against the New York Yankees, Yesavage threw 5⅓ hitless innings, struck out 11 batters, and walked just one. With 11 Ks, he set the Blue Jays' franchise record for most strikeouts in a single postseason game.
If Yesavage doesn't go deep, veterans like Chris Bassitt and Eric Lauer could be used out of the bullpen for multiple innings. Despite the Game 6 debacle, manager John Schneider said he trusts the bullpen.
Both Gilbert and Yesavage struggled to go deep in their previous starts. It remains to be seen who does it better, as it could pretty much decide whether there'll be a Game 7 or not.
