Felix Hernandez, at his peak, was one of the best pitchers on his planet.
His peak may have not lasted as long as it did for some of the arms that have made it to the Hall of Fame. But the Seattle Mariners' right-hander was a legend in his own way.
And now, it appears the Hall of Fame may be taking notice.
This is Hernandez's second year on the Hall of Fame ballot.
In year one, he got 20.6% of the votes (75% is needed for election).
On the current tracker right now, Hernandez is at 57% (with that likely to drop a bit when the non-public ballots roll in).
According to MLB.com's Brian Murphy, Hernandez has gotten 30 votes from returning BBWAA members who didn't vote for him last year, which is astounding.

Players get 10 years on the ballot, so just in year two, Hernandez has a great chance to continue climbing and eventually get elected.
Hernandez won a Cy Young Award and two ERA titles.
He had 169 career wins and a 3.42 ERA.
He struck out 2,524 batters in 2729.2 innings, all with the Mariners.
And he threw a legendary perfect game on Aug. 15, 2012.
He's a Seattle superhero. Mariners fans just hope the rest of baseball gives King Felix his proper due.
