The Seattle Mariners re-signed Josh Naylor to a five-year deal, and while they could explore other infield additions, they've let Jorge Polanco walk, and have yt to make a move on Eugenio Suarez.
Part of the reason why the Mariners haven't made another move this winter is that they've been biding their time in a search for a new infielder who can play second base or third base. And recently, one just became available.
Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that Toronto Blue Jays star Bo Bichette is open to making a position change to second base. In turn, the Mariners, among a few others, are now potential suitors for the All-Star infielder.
Mariners emerge as landing spot for Bo Bichette amid position switch
"According to sources, the two-time All-Star has let potential suitors know that he is ready, willing, and able to move to second base," Feinsand writes. "... The Dodgers, Red Sox, Giants, Mariners, and Rangers are also potential fits."
With the Mariners having J.P. Crawford locking down their shortstop spot (for at least 2026), Bichette wasn't a viable option this winter.
But now, with his willingness to play second base, the Mariners are a realistic suitor for the All-Star infielder. He hit.311 in 2025 with the Blue Jays, and his.840 OPS would be a great mark for a second baseman.

The Mariners have been one of the top suitors for a second baseman in a trade this winter, with Ketel Marte, Brendan Donovan, and Brandon Lowe among the top choices for Seattle in the trade market this winter.
But, instead of offloading talent, they can now sign Bichette to play him at second base to make up a very strong infield with Naylor, Crawford, and likely Colt Emerson at third.
Seattle isn't going to break the bank for a Kyle Tucker type, but Bichette, who can now slide into Jorge Polanco's spot at second base full-time, would make a lot of sense as a free agent target.
The Mariners are now a realistic suitor for Bichette, and it is a pairing to keep in mind as the offseason progresses, with Bichette's willingness to play second base.
