San Francisco has 'checked in on' Cody Bellinger amid free agency image

The San Francisco Giants enter the 2025 offseason in search of a big move. With the dominance of the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco has won just one National League West division title in the last 14 years.

Last season saw the Giants make more significant splashes, signing Willy Adames and trading for Red Sox star Rafael Devers midseason.

That said, San Francisco still has plenty of work to do in order to compete with the reigning two-time champions. Thus far, the Giants have been linked to acquiring a second baseman in addition to a top of the line starting pitcher.

As far as second base is concerned, the Giants have been linked to both Brendan Donovan of the St. Louis Cardinals via trade or free agent option Ha-Seong Kim.

When it comes to pitching, San Francisco has been linked to both Zac Gallen and Framber Valdez after missing out on Dylan Cease.

However, a new free agent has emerged atop of San Francisco's desired list. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Cody Bellinger is another name that the Giants have checked in on.

With Devers likely to be a full-time first baseman, Bellinger could fit in at both center and left field, depending on the positioning of Jung Hoo Lee.

A former NL MVP as a member of the Dodgers, Bellinger would provide an immediate impact. As well as an MVP, Bellinger has won two Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove. Furthermore, he carries plenty of postseason experience, including an NLCS MVP and World Series title to his name. Last season for the Yankees, Bellinger posted 5.1 WAR to go along with 29 home runs, 98 RBI's, 160 hits, and.272 batting average.

Although Bellinger is expected to have plenty of suitors, if he were to chose the Giants, the National League West race would become that much closer.
