Giants reveal contract guarantees and bonuses for new starter Tyler Mahle image

The San Francisco Giants made another move earlier this week, signing free-agent starter Tyler Mahle to a one-year agreement.

Mahle made his deal official today and the details of his contract were revealed. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the deal is worth $10 million over one season with $3 million in performance bonuses making for a potential of $13 million.

Now with the details revealed, this appears to be a steal for San Francisco. Although Mahle spent plenty of time on the injured list in 2025, he posted stellar numbers when healthy.

Mahle finished the season with a 6-4 record over 16 appearances while posting a 2.18 ERA. His strongest and most durable season came in 2021 as a member of the Cincinnati Reds. That year Mahle produced a career-high 4.9 WAR to go along with a 13-6 record, 3.75 ERA and 210 strikeouts over 180 innings.

Although Mahle pitches to contact, Oracle Park is known as one of the most pitcher friendly ball-parks in the game. Not to mention, San Francisco's stellar defense headlined by two-time Platinum Glove winner Matt Chapman and two-time Gold Glove winner Patrick Bailey.

With Justin Verlander reaching free agency, the Giants had a couple spots in their rotation behind Logan Webb and Robbie Ray.

Mahle will now join San Francisco's other recent signee, Adrian Houser toward the back-end of the Giants rotation. Landen Roupp is also expected to feature in the rotation if the Giants don't make any more upgrades.

That said, if Mahle remains healthy, he may prove to be one of the best bargain signings of the free-agent period.
