Giants' plans for Jung Hoo Lee revealed after Harrison Bader centerfield signing image

The San Francisco Giants signed a Gold Glove centerfielder on Monday in free agency, Harrison Bader.

On paper, the Giants already had a centerfielder, Jung Hoo Lee.

Something has to give, and it sounds like as might be expected, Lee will be moving.

MLB insider Jon Morosi reported Monday afternoon that Lee will be moving to a corner outfield spot.

Lee last played outside of center in 2020, when he was the Kiwoom Heroes' right fielder in the KBO.

The 27-year old Lee just completed his second MLB season with the Giants.

In 2024, Lee only got into 37 games at the MLB level, but he played 150 games in 2025 for San Francsico.

In that time, he batted.266 with 31 doubles, 12 triples, eight home runs, 55 RBI and 10 stolen bases. His OPS was.735.

Lee has played all 1582 of his MLB innings in the field in centerfield.

In addition to that season in right field in 2020 with Kiwoom, he also played left field for both Kiwoom and Nexen in the KBO as he was first breaking into the professional ranks.

The Giants would expect their outfield defense to improve as a whole with this maneuver. Not only do you get a great player in center in Bader, but you move a natural centerfielder to a corner and should be able to cover even more ground.

Bader's signing isn't the biggest move ever, but it should certainly make the Giants better.
