Wilmer Flores started the final game of the San Francisco Giants' season on Sunday.
But in the top of the third inning, Flores was pulled from proceedings.
It was all intentional. Flores came out to an ovation from the home crowd in the Bay Area.
This will almost certainly be the last game for Flores as a Giants player.
He's in the final year of his contract, and it doesn't make sense for San Francisco to bring him back.
But it was a strong tenure for Flores with the Giants.
It seems hard to believe, but the guy known for his time with the New York Mets has now played the same amount of seasons, six, with the Giants.
This season, Flores has batted .242 with 10 doubles, 16 home runs and 71 RBI. He had a scorching start to the season, when he was near the top of the RBI leaderboard for most of the first half.
In his Giants career, Flores played in 667 games. He batted .249, hit 99 doubles, slugged 92 homers and drove in 313 runs. His OPS in San Francisco was .747, better than what he did with the Mets.
The Giants are set at any spot Flores would play thanks to the presence of Rafael Devers and Bryce Eldridge, the rookie who replaced Flores midway through Sunday's game.
Flores will have to continue his MLB career elsewhere, but he got cool recognition before departing the Bay Area.
