It still doesn’t feel likely that the San Diego Padres will move Fernando Tatis Jr. This winter, but some have stated it could be possible.
That mostly comes from the idea of shedding payroll, but many view it as a possibility, including Christopher Kline of FanSided, who proposed a deal to send him to the Detroit Tigers.
Detroit Tigers receive:
• Tatis
San Diego Padres receive:
• Wenceel Perez
• Hao-Yu Lee
• Josue Briceno
• Jaden Hamm
“It does not feel like the San Diego Padres are going to trade Fernando Tatis Jr. This winter, but there has been enough chatter of seismic changes in San Diego - enough smoke blowing on the wind - to at least consider the possibility. If the talented outfielder does wind up on the market, the Detroit Tigers make all the sense in the world as a team in need of that foundational, superstar-level bat,” he wrote.
Detroit would love a superstar, especially if it loses Tarik Skubal at some point over the next year.
Tatis would instantly become the face of Detroit, giving it something it has been searching for on the offensive side of the baseball. The price wouldn’t be low, but if this deal were to ever happen, the Tigers should and would likely take it in a heartbeat.
