Padres owner John Seidler calls 2025 season a 'disappointment' in end-of-season statement image

Despite topping 90 wins for a second consecutive season and strengthening their roster for a hopeful World Series push, the San Diego Padres came up short again in the postseason.

After their NLWC loss to the Chicago Cubs, there will be a lot of questions that need to be addressed in preparation for the 2026 season.

It almost seems like a constant loop of the same outcome for Padres fans, and it appears to be taking a toll on the team owner, John Seidler. He made a statement to the team following the conclusion of the 2025 season.

Padres' John Seidler labels 2025 season as a 'disappointment' after NLWC loss

After getting eliminated by the Chicago Cubs in the postseason, new team owner John Sheidler sent a mass email to every account associated with the San Diego Padres organization.

In the statement, Seidler called the 2025 season a "disappointment" that "exposed areas where we must improve." He added, "The process of getting better will begin immediately as we perform a thorough review of our organization with an eye towards improving and winning our first World Series Championship," according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The Padres will have a lot of unanswered questions to face this offseason. Of course, top players like Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jackson Merrill are still linked to the team long term, but other key pieces in their lineup will have to be addressed. Players like Luis Arraez, Ryan O'Hearn, Dylan Cease, and Michael King (mutual option) are all in line to take on free agency this offseason.

Change appears to be on the horizon as the Padres look to stay in their World Series window and pursue the first championship in franchise history. The question now is which areas the team must address to keep improving rather than slipping backward.
