Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler already knows when he's going to retire.
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, there are two and a half seasons left.
"Kudos to Phillies ace Zack Wheeler, who is already telling everyone that he plans to retire after the 2027 season to spend time with his family," Nightengale wrote in his latest MLB notes column.
Wheeler just turned 35 in May.
He made his MLB debut in 2013 for the Mets. Wheeler pitched five healthy seasons with New York before joining Philadelphia ahead of the 2020 season.
In his MLB career, Wheeler has a 109-72 record and a 3.31 ERA.
Those numbers are even better in Philly, where he has a 2.93 ERA in his six seasons. Wheeler has struck out 9.9 batters per nine innings in his Philadelphia career, too.

It's interesting to get a report like this so far out.
But Wheeler is also working on raising a family, and maybe he simply understands when he wants to be more present.
It's cool that he'd already have made such a determination. It allows for himself and his team to plan ahead, never a bad thing.
