The Philadelphia Phillies entered the 2025-2026 MLB offseason with a few clear goals in mind. While adding Kyle Schwarber back to the roster was a priority, so too was resolving the outfield issue.
Nick Castellanos is going to be off the roster by the start of the season, and the Phillies need to find a new right fielder and determine how Brandon Marsh, Justin Crawford, and Otto Kemp will fit into the outfield.
According to Francys Romero of beisbolfr.com, the Phillies have made their first outfield move this winter. With a need in right field and for a righty slugger, the Phillies are reportedly signing former Texas Rangers ALCS MVP Adolis Garcia to a $10 million deal.
Phillies reportedly sign Adolis Garcia to $10 million deal
"BREAKING: Cuban OF Adolis Garcia and the Philadelphia Phillies are finalizing a one-year, $10 million contract, pending a physical, per sources," Romero reports.
This move from the Phillies, as long as it's finalized, would be a great way to begin addressing the outfield issue. Castellanos is all but gone, and there is a clear need for a right-handed power bat this winter.
Garcia, coming off a down 2025 season with a.227 batting average and a.665 OPS, could be in store for an offensive turnaround in Philadelphia.
Back in 2023, when Garcia helped lead the Rangers to a World Series title, he hit.245 with an.836 OPS with 39 home runs, 107 RBIs, and 29 doubles. His home run total has dropped in the years since, to 25 homers in 2024 and 19 in 2025.

But, Garcia would be a worthwhile flier for the Phillies to take this winter, as if he can get back to his 2023 form, a $10 million contract for one year would be a steal. The 32-year-old needs to bounce back, and in the strong Phillies lineup, Garcia will have a chance.
During his only postseason appearance in 2023, Garcia was a hero, hitting.323 with a 1.108 OPS in 15 games with 20 hits, eight home runs, and 22 RBIs en route to a World Series title.
Garcia is the exact kind of player the Phillies needed to add this offseason. And with this report from Romero, the Phillies and Garcia are closing in on a free agent agreement worth $10 million for the 2026 season.
