Phillies deemed a potential landing spot for star free agent Kyle Tucker image

Kyle Tucker is one of, if not the best free agents available this winter. As such, the Philadelphia Phillies could find themselves in the mix for the star outfielder.

After establishing himself as one of baseball’s brightest talents with the Houston Astros, Tucker was traded to the Chicago Cubs before the 2025 season. In that one season with Chicago, he hit.266 with 22 home runs, and an OPS of.841. The Athletic’s Jim Bowden has named Tucker as a potential fit for the Phillies, along with the San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Los Angeles Dodgers

“Even in a season that saw Tucker dealing with multiple injuries, he was able to impact the game in all areas thanks to his hit tool, power, defense, arm and speed,” Bowden said. “Teams view him as a complete player who will be a threat to hit 30 homers and steal 30 bases every season.”

Phillies could look to make a splash signing this offseason

The Phillies would love to land a player of Tucker’s caliber, especially with their division rival New York Mets landing Juan Soto last offseason. In order to compete with them for the future, they’ll need to be willing to spend.

The Phillies also face a major decision on Kyle Schwarber this offseason, who is also a free agent. Schwarber’s free agency could very well impact how hard the Phillies push for Tucker. Nonetheless, adding Tucker to a lineup that already includes the likes of Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Alec Bohm could help the Phillies remain a major force in the NL East.
