Phillies’ Nick Castellanos viewed as a potential trade chip image

The Philadelphia Phillies will surely have a busy offseason ahead of them. Recently, one of their main power bats has been included in potential trade talks.

ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan have pointed to DH/OF Nick Castellanos as a potential trade chip for the Phillies. Castellanos has spent the four seasons with the Phillies, and will be entering the final year of his five-year deal in 2026.

With the Phillies, Castellanos has played a big role in the team’s success over the past four seasons, and was key to their run to the World Series in 2022. He has hit 82 home runs and drove in 326 RBIs over the course of his time with the Phillies, and was named an All-Star in 2023.

This past season, he hit.250 with 17 home runs and 72 RBIs. With his decline starting to become more pronounced, it’s possible that the team will look to move on from him this winter.

The Phillies also have to deal with the impending free agency of Kyle Schwarber, which could impact how they evaluate Castellanos’ future with the team. Nonetheless, the team will have some major decisions to make regarding the 33-year-old Castellanos as he enters a pivotal final season on his contract.
