The Philadelphia Phillies are entering a very important offseason where Dave Dombrowski and the rest of the front office have major decisions to make. For one, Kyle Schwarber is set to hit the open market as a free agent, and the same goes for southpaw Ranger Suarez.
Along with those names, outfielder Nick Castellanos' future with the Phillies is also uncertain. The New York Yankees have an outfielder who is set to hit the open market once free agency opens in Trent Grisham.
Recently, the Phillies were linked to being in the mix on the Grisham sweepstakes.
Could the Phillies target Trent Grisham?
In a recent 'top landing spots' piece by Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller, the Phillies are listed as a top option for the 34-home-run free agent.
The Phillies' projected outfield consists of Brandon Marsh, Johan Rojas, and Nick Castellanos.
Harrison Bader is also an outfield option, but Bader is likely going to test free agency after having a career year.
"And if Grisham's new-found pop is for real," wrote Miller. "There's no better home for him than Citizens Bank Park, which Statcast's Park Factors suggests has been the most homer-happy venue for left-handed hitters over the past three years."
Grisham posted career-highs in several offensive categories, including average (.235), home runs (34), RBIs (74), and OPS+ (125).
After signing a one-year deal with the Yankees worth $5 million, it is expected that Grisham's market will be much more robust this Winter.
