The Philadelphia Phillies are trying to re-sign Kyle Schwarber this winter, and are facing some roadblocks in the process. From the Cincinnati Reds' interest to the two sides being far apart in contract talks, Schwarber's market is a bit shaky.

However, the upcoming MLB winter meetings, which begin on Monday, December 8th, could be the spark that heats up the hot stove this offseason.

MLB insider Robert Murray of Fansided.com predicts that Schwarber will be one of those players to see their free agent market heat up thanks to the winter meetings.

"Kyle Schwarber watch heats up at Winter Meetings," Murray predicts. "Where he goes, I don't know. No one knows....The expectation is that his eventual contract will be for five seasons, and I could very well see that going down at the Winter Meetings."

The MLB Winter Meetings start the second week of December and last the entire week. During that week, Schwarber's market could heat up.

He's likely one of the first big-name free agents to sign this winter, as the interest from plenty of clubs will make Schwarber a highly coveted player, and the winter meetings could make contract talks pick up steam.

Coming off a 56-homer season with the Phillies, along with his MLB-leading 132 RBIs, there's no reason the Phillies shouldn't try their hardest to retain him.

Dave Dombrowski and the Phillies are planning to do just that, and the Winter Meetings could finally get the ball rolling on a deal between the 2025 NL MVP runner-up and Philadelphia.

Schwarber's market heating up at the Winter Meetings could lead to a new deal for the designated hitter in the next week or so. He's in high demand, and with this prediction from Murray, teams around baseball will have their first big answer this winter come at, or shortly after the MLB Winter Meetings.
