Phillies get great news on meeting with Bo Bichette from MLB insider image

The Philadelphia Phillies, amid a contract stand-off with J.T. Realmuto, have pivoted to free agent infielder Bo Bichette.

There's mutual interest, and on Monday, the two, Bichette and the Phillies brass, had a meeting to discuss this interest.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the next morning, the meeting between the Phillies and Bichette was said to have gone "very well."

Phillies meeting with Bichette goes 'very well'

"Bichette/Phillies meeting is said to have gone very well fwiw," Heyman reports. "Bichette admires 'first-class' organization. Other pluses: roster, park, Mattinglys link, spring proximity to home."

The Monday meeting with Bichette went well, according to this report, which is a good sign that a contract could be worked out between the two.

While there's no guarantee he signs with the Phillies, this report is a good first sign that something could come to fruition soon.

Bichette has a strong connection to new bench coach Don Mattingly, and combined with the Phillies willingess to spend a decent amount on Bichette, and the infield in need of an upgrade, this move makes a lot of sense.

The Phillies are going to continue courting Bichette this winter. Their interest is real, and following this positive meeting, the chances for a deal look greater than ever.

This meeting was the next step towards a possible contract. After a successful meeting between the two sides according to Heyman's report, things are trending in the right direction for the Phillies and Bichette to work out a contract.
