The Philadelphia Phillies could look towards bringing back one of their best offensive talents from last season.
The Athletic's Andy McCullough has noted that Kyle Schwarber remains on the Phillies’ radar this offseason. Schwarber was a key figure to the Phillies’ offense last season, smashing 56 home runs with a.928 OPS. Schwarber was also extremely durable in 2025, appearing in all 162 games for the Phillies. He was named to his third All-Star appearance for his efforts.
Schwarber has spent the last four seasons in Philadelphia, and has established himself as one of the team’s best players in that time frame.
Now a free agent, McCullough doesn’t see a scenario where Schwarber ends up wearing a different uniform in 2026.
“If Schwarber departs in free agency, the Phillies could pivot and find ways to replace aspects of his production through other avenues,” he said. “But why mess with a good thing? I would be shocked if owner John Middleton and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski let themselves get outbid.”
As the Phillies look to get back to the World Series in 2026, bringing back Schwarber will be key to their title hopes for next season. Schwarber has helped bring the Phillies back into contention since joining them in 2022, and Phillies fans will likely welcome him back with open arms should he return in free agency.
