ESPN's Jeff Passan reveals Bo Bichette update that's great news for Phillies fans image

The Philadelphia Phillies are in the middle of an interesting free-agent pursuit of Bo Bichette. He wasn't someone the team planned to go after at the start of free agency, but with J.T. Realmuto in a standstill with the Phillies, they've pivoted to Bichette.

Their interest has been met with some incredible progress, as their Monday meeting went well, and the Phillies have also begun to strongly consider moves they've needed to make after signing him to a long-term deal.

Amid this strong interest, ESPN's Jeff Passan, during an appearance on Sportsnet, revealed some incredible news for Phillies fans amid the team's pursuit of Bichette. Passan "expects" the Phillies to be the highest bidder, likely landing the top infielder.

Phillies expected to be highest bidder for Bo Bichette

"I think the expectation at the end of the day is that the Phillies are going to be the highest bidders," Passan said. "They have reason to go after him."

Adding Bichette to the Phillies lineup would be an incredible move for Dave Dombrowski and company to make.

And while there's no guarantee they get a deal done, this report from Passan indicates that the Phillies are expected to have the best offer on the table for the Toronto Blue Jays' free-agent infielder.

He'll likely play one of third base or second base, with Bryson Stott taking over the other position in the infield.

Thanks to the Boston Red Sox signing Ranger Suarez to a $130 million deal, the Phillies likely don't have the same challengers for Bichette as they otherwise might've.

Passan's report that the Phillies are expected to have the most money on the table is a great sign for the Phillies' chances of signing Bichette this winter.

Bichette has an interest in the Phillies, thanks in part to Don Mattingly being the team's bench coach, and the Phillies have a strong interest in Bichette.

The fit makes sense; the Phillies have a way to make the money work, and most importantly, they seemingly have the best offer on the table.

Phillies fans should be confident about their chances of signing Bichette this offseason, as things are trending towards the Phillies being able to land the Bichette plane in free agency.
