Inclement weather postponed Friday's game between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians, resulting in a split doubleheader for Saturday.

With Clarke Schmidt getting the ball for the first game of the doubleheader at 12:10 p.m. ET, the Yankees also named a spot starter for the second game of the doubleheader, which is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET.

Though Luis Gil would be in line for that start, they bumped his start to Sunday and are instead giving right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet the spot start Saturday night. The Yankees bumped Gil simply to not mess with his schedule for the upcoming Toronto series.

Poteet is getting the call-up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre where he's recorded 8.1 innings pitched and 12 strikeouts to go along with a 2.16 ERA  and 0.60 WHIP.

In Spring Training, Poteet was 1-0 in 10.0 innings pitched, allowing 15 hits, 10 runs, two home runs, and four walks while recording nine strikeouts.
