The Astros tied the World Series up at a game apiece by winning Game 2 in Houston. Now comes the daunting task of playing at Citizens Bank Park as the World Series shifts to Philadelphia, where the Phillies are undefeated in five games this postseason.

The Phillies were unable to mount a second miraculous five-run comeback against the Astros in Game 2 after falling behind early as this time, Framber Valdez and the Houston bullpen protected the lead to win 5-2 to tie the series at a game each.

But fans will have to wait. In what was originally scheduled to be a Halloween night matchup, rain put the third game of the World Series on hold. Instead, the two sides will face off on Tuesday.

The teams will send out a pair of experienced arms hoping to pick up the edge in the series. Philadelphia will turn to Noah Syndergaard, while Houston will hand the ball to Lance McCullers.

LIVE: Follow Astros vs. Phillies Game 3 World Series

Syndergaard, acquired at the trade deadline from the Angels, has turned in another standout season, albeit with lower strikeout numbers than his typical seasons. Syndergaard posted a 3.94 ERA during the regular season, but struck out only 16.8 percent of opposing hitters as his fastball velocity continued to dip since he was consistently in the mid-upper-90s earlier in his career. He has appeared in three 2022 postseason games with one start, pitching to a 1.69 ERA in the 5.1 innings of action.

McCullers missed much of the season with a forearm injury, but returned to the hill in August and was his usual dominant self, owning a 2.27 ERA across 47.2 innings of work in eight starts with a 25.6 percent strikeout rate and 11.3 percent walk rate. He has started twice in the playoffs and allowed just three earned runs (four runs total) in 11 innings of work.
