World Series Game 7 final score, results: Will Smith, Miguel Rojas' heroics lift Dodgers over Blue Jays in 11-inning classic

World Series Game 7 final score, results: Will Smith, Miguel Rojas' heroics lift Dodgers over Blue Jays in 11-inning classic image

JUMP TO:

Entering Saturday, the 2025 World Series included an 18-inning game, a complete-game pitching performance, a walk-off home run, 12 strikeouts from a rookie, a grand slam and plenty more.  None of it could quite live up to the absolute madness of an all-time Game 7.

The Los Angeles Dodgers had to fight for their second consecutive World Series title, taking down the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in 11 innings of Saturday's decisive Fall Classic matchup. From start to finish, each team continually appeared to have found its World Series hero — but time and time again, there was a response from the other side.

Will Smith's solo home run in the top of the 11th was the final difference in bringing L.A. Another title, but there were plenty of heroic moments sprinkled in the Dodgers' comeback win. After trailing 3-0 early, solo home runs from Max Muncy and Miguel Rojas prevented the Blue Jays from celebrating on their home field. Just a day removed from 96 pitches in Game 6, Yoshinobu Yamamoto also made his $325 million contract look like a steal, getting out of multiple late-inning Game 7 jams to keep the Dodgers' World Series run alive and win his third game of the series.

MORE: How how Yoshinobu Yamamoto dominated his way to winning World Series MVP

The Dodgers were viewed as inevitable champions by many entering the 2025 season — but their journey there was anything but inevitable. It took countless bounce-back games, clutch hits and dominant pitching performances for the league's second-highest spenders to become the first back-to-back World Series winner since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees.

For the Blue Jays, an incredible postseason run met a bitter end Saturday night, especially with the many missed opportunities to close out Game 7. Bo Bichette's three-run home run, Max Scherzer's vintage outing, three-hit games from Ernie Clement and George Springer and more will go in history as a losing effort, despite Toronto coming within two outs of winning its first title in decades.

The 2025 World Series was a legitimate classic, and Game 7 was the cherry on top. From traded leads on key swings, to huge defensive plays throughout the evening, the Dodgers and Blue Jays scraped and clawed for the trophy. L.A. May be known for its roster full of stars, but it needed nearly everybody on its roster to win it all in 2025.

AllSportsPeople tracked live updates and highlights from World Series Game 7, as the Dodgers came back on the road to beat the Blue Jays. Here’s how Los Angeles secured another title.

Who would the World Series in 2025?

All times ET.

Final: Dodgers 5, Blue Jays 4 (11)

12:18 a.m. —  The Los Angeles Dodgers are back-to-back World Series champions! Mookie Betts steps on second base, then fires to first for the double play to end an insane Game 7. For the first time in decades, baseball has a back-to-back champion.

12:16 a.m. —  Yamamoto is starting to struggle, over 120 pitches in the last two games. He walks Barger. Here comes Alejandro Kirk with two on and one out. A double play, and the Dodgers win it all. Two runs score, and the Blue Jays win it all. Buckle up.

12:15 a.m. —  A flawless sacrifice bunt moves Guerrero Jr. To third base. The winning run is at the plate in Addison Barger. Kershaw and Sasaki are warming up in the bullpen for the Dodgers, who can win it all.

12:13 a.m. —  Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Leads off with a double down the left field line. He pumps his fists to the dugout, representing the tying run once again with Yamamoto still pitching.

12:09 a.m. —  Freddie Freeman grounds out. But now, the Dodgers are on the brink of a repeat, somehow. The Blue Jays' missed opportunities are staring them right in the face, heading to the bottom of the 11th with Vlad Jr. Set to lead off.

Dodgers 5, Blue Jays 4

12:07 a.m. HOME RUN — Will Smith! With two outs in the top of the 11th inning, Shane Bieber on the mound for the Blue Jays, the Dodgers' catcher connects on a ball and sends it over the left-field wall. L.A. Has turned this game upside down and will take a lead into the bottom of the 11th, able to win a second-straight title.

End of 10th inning: Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 4

12:02 a.m. — Nothing's doing for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the 10th. We head to the 11th of this all-time classic.

12:00 a.m. —  It is now November 2nd on the east coast, including Toronto. Yamamoto strikes out George Springer for the second out in the bottom of the 10th in Game 7 of the World Series.

11:57 p.m. —  Yamamoto is still pitching for the second-straight night. In the bottom of the 10th, Andres Gimenez leads off.

11:54 p.m. —  Barely, just barely, we have escaped another bases-loaded jam to take the World Series lead. On a dribbler down the baseline, Dominguez had to cover first base, and he nearly missed the bag when trying to step on it to get the last out in the top of the 10th.

Blue Jays fans can let out a (temporary) sigh of relief, though. The review confirms the out, and Toronto can still walk it off after all this madness.

11:52 p.m. —  Toronto gets its own fielder's choice at home, with a groundout to shortstop that nabs Mookie Betts at the plate. Two outs in the top of the 10th.

11:50 p.m. —  Now, the Dodgers have the bases loaded. Teoscar Hernandez walks, putting Dominguez in a massive jam. Andy Pagas is at the plate.

11:48 p.m. —  Max Muncy singles up the middle. There are two Dodgers on base with one out in the top of the 10th.

11:44 p.m. —  Seranthony Dominguez is pitching the top of the 10th for the Blue Jays. Freddie Freeman flied out for the first out.

Let's recap the insane ninth inning quick: the Blue Jays entered with a 4-3 lead, able to win a World Series. Jeff Hoffman blew the save opportunity, as Miguel Rojas' solo home run silenced Toronto.

Then, the Blue Jays loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, still able to win it all with just one hit. An infield play needed reviewed to confirm an out call at home, then Andy Pages made a miraculous grab over his teammate in the outfield to save Game 7. Now, we're in extras for the World Series title.

End of ninth inning: Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 4

11:40 p.m. — WOW. Game 7 is going to extra innings, and that's the result of a simply miraculous play from Andy Pages in left-center field. He nearly collided with Hernandez in his attempt to snag Ernie Clement's potential title-winning hit, but remained focused and secured the ball right at the wall.

Yamamoto barely escapes the all-time jam after Rojas and Pagas' heroics in the ninth inning. Let's play 10 in World Series Game 7.

11:36 p.m. —  Rojas comes through for the Dodgers again, this time defensively. With the infield in, he fires home on a groundout to get the runner with a force. After a review to determine if Will Smith's foot stayed on home plate, the out call is confirmed. There are two outs, and the hitting machine Ernie Clement is coming to the plate. One hit will win the World Series.

11:34 p.m. —  Yamamoto hits Kirk with a pitch! The bases are loaded for Daulton Varsho. The World Series-winning run is 90 feet away for the Blue Jays.

11:32 p.m. —  Talk about stress in Toronto. Dave Roberts has taken Blake Snell out in the huge situtation for... Yoshinobu Yamamoto, his Game 6 starter. He threw 96 pitches yesterday, now in the most clutch situation possible today. Will that pay off?

11:29 p.m. —  Blake Snell walks Addison Barger. There are two runners on for Alejandro Kirk, the World Series-winning run on second base. Can the Blue Jays still win it on a walk-off after Hoffman's blown save?

11:27 p.m. —  Going back to Rojas' game-tying home run... Not only was that his first homer since Sept. 19, but it was the second game-tying, or go-ahead, home run in the 9th inning or later in a winner-take-all game in World Series history, per ESPN. Simply unreal, and this will certainly be an all-time Game 7 no matter the result.

11:25 p.m. —  Bichette singles, but then is pinch-run for. He won't return to Game 7, in what could be his final game for the Blue Jays. But the winning run is on first base.

11:23 p.m. —  Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Was almost the new Joe Carter... But he came up just short. Snell is still pitching for the Dodgers, and Guerrero send a fly ball deep into center field that nearly won it all. Instead, Game 7 continues with Bo Bichette.

11:19 p.m. —  This World Series is not over. It won't end. Rojas saved the Dodgers' season with the solo home run vs. Hoffman, who then bounced back with a flyout from Ohtani and strikeout vs. Will Smith.

Now, Toronto can walk off the World Series, or we will head to extra innings.

Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 4

11:14 p.m. HOME RUN —  Miguel. Rojas. Are you kidding me? The most clutch situation possible, with one out in the ninth inning of the World Series, trailing 4-3. He ties Game 7 with one swing, a shot into left field to make it 4-4. This is a brand new ballgame, and the Blue Jays have lost their lead.

11:12 p.m. —  Hernandez goes down swinging. The Blue Jays are two outs away from a title. The Dodgers need a run to save their season. Here comes Miguel Rojas, with Shohei Ohtani on deck.

11:10 p.m. —  Jeff Hoffman remains in the game for Toronto. He can win a title for the Blue Jays, but this is also the most pressure-mounted situation possible in baseball.

End of eighth inning: Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 2

11:08 p.m. —  Snell's stuff proves effective in the eighth inning, as he also gets Davis Schneider swinging. For Toronto, it's now simple: get three outs without allowing a run, and the Blue Jays win the World Series.

Hernandez, Rojas and Ohtani will be the batters for the Dodgers with their season on the line.

11:05 p.m. —  Blake Snell is in to pitch for Dave Roberts. He struck out George Springer for the second out.

10:58 p.m. —  What a postseason it has been for Ernie Clement. Seemingly out of nowhere, he has now set the all-time MLB record for hits in a single postseason, ripping an eighth-inning double for his 30th hit of the playoffs. Cooperstown may want that baseball.

10:54 p.m. —  Yesavage got pulled soon after the home run, and Jeff Hoffman took over to get the final out of the eighth. He'll likely be back in the ninth, looking for a four-out save to win the World Series. But it is now just a one-run deficit for L.A., as the Blue Jays will look to add to their lead one last time.

Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 3

10:47 p.m. SOLO HOME RUN —  Max Muncy makes this a one-run game, again. The insurance run proves costly for the Blue Jays, and the Dodgers are one swing away from evening Game 7 after Muncy's shot into right field.

End of seventh inning: Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 2

10:40 p.m. —  Seven innings of Game 7 have come and gone. The Blue Jays have a 4-2 lead to protect over six outs, with Mookie Betts set to lead off the top of the eighth for the Dodgers.

Does L.A. Have a miraculous comeback in the works for a title, or can Toronto close it out over the next two innings?

10:40 p.m. —  Alejandro Kirk's stays hot this World Series with his second hit of Game 7, and it comes with two outs.

10:36 p.m. —  Emmet Sheehan is in for the Dodgers, attempting to hold Toronto at four runs for a bit longer.

10:34 p.m. —  Vlad Jr. Continues to amaze at first base. He orchestrates a double-play almost single-handedly, taking a ground out from Freddie Freeman, throwing to second to get Ohtani, then catching the second out to end the inning. Toronto is just two innings away.

10:29 p.m. —  Yesavage walks Ohtani to start the seventh. Will Smith comes up as the tying run.

End of sixth inning: Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 2

10:26 p.m. —  Guerrero Jr. Remains hitless in Game 7 after an inning-ending groundout. But Toronto's insurance run will linger in the coming frames. Trey Yesavage is coming into the game, just a few days removed from his historic starting performance.

Blue Jays 4, Dodgers 2

10:22 p.m. RBI DOUBLE —  Toronto's bottom of the order continues to rake. Gimenez, who was at the center of the hit-by-pitch drama earlier, gets ahold of a slider from Tyler Glasnow and finds a gap. Clement scores, and the Blue Jays get a massive insurance run in the sixth.

10:19 p.m. —  Ernie Clement cannot stop hitting. His second hit of the night is his 29th of the postseason, tying an MLB record with Randy Arozarena in 2020.

10:16 p.m. — Rojas grounds out on a 3-2 pitch from Bassitt, ending the top of the sixth. This is a one-run game though, and it's anybody's Game 7. Legends can be made in these next few frames.

10:12 p.m. —  Hernandez singles, and the Dodgers have the tying run at second base and the go-ahead run at first base. Rojas is at the plate with Ohtani on deck.

Blue Jays 3, Dodgers 2

10:08 p.m. SAC FLY —  It is a one-run game. For the second time, the Dodgers bring a run home on a sacrifice fly. Tommy Edman got one deep enough to score Betts.

10:05 p.m. —  Chris Bassitt enters the game for the Blue Jays, and he allows a walk to Betts, then a single to Muncy. The Dodgers are not going down quietly, but can they finally capitalize?

End of fifth inning: Blue Jays 3, Dodgers 1

9:58 p.m. —  Glasnow keeps the Blue Jays' bats quiet in the bottom of the fifth, outside of a single for Alejandro Kirk. Again, we head to another inning with the Dodgers trailing in their quest for two-straight titles.

9:45 p.m. —  Scherzer got pulled after 4.1 innings, allowing a single to Rojas before Louis Varland took over on the mound. Ohtani also singled to put the tying run aboard in Game 7, but Varland got out of the top of the fifth after consecutive flyouts. Toronto is inching closer to a title, if it can hold on to its lead.

9:40 p.m. —  Scherzer remains in the game, although the Blue Jays' bullpen is active.

End of fourth inning: Blue Jays 3, Dodgers 1

9:37 p.m. —  Guerrero Jr. Flies out to center field, and Glasnow gets out of the fourth inning.

9:30 p.m. — Tyler Glasnow is coming into the game after Wrobleski struck out Lukes. Vlad Jr. Is coming to the plate with two down and two on base, up 3-1.

9:30 p.m. —  George Springer gets another hit, his third of Game 7, lining one back at Wrobleski to follow-up the dramatic hit-by-pitch. The Blue Jays are threatening to add to their lead with one out in the bottom of the fourth.

9:25 p.m. —  Wrobleski remained in for the Dodgers, and he caused some drama. The benches clear for perhaps the first time in Game 7 history, as Wrobleski nailed Gimenez with a pitch after coming close inside twice.

The bullpens empty, the managers talk with the umpires, and there was a whole delay for the tempers flaring.

9:21 p.m. —  Make it two-straight spectacular defensive Blue Jays plays to prevent runs. This time, it's Vladdy Jr. Laying out to prevent a hit down the right-field line, securing the third out of the top of the fourth. The Dodgers have to settle for just one run despite loading the bases, thanks to Toronto's defense.

Blue Jays 3, Dodgers 1

9:18 p.m. SAC FLY — Daulton Varsho makes a terrific catch in center field that undoubtedly prevented at least one more run... But the Dodgers still got one home on a sacrifice fly. Hernandez gets the RBI to make it a two-run deficit, but Varsho surely prevented this game from being tied, at the least.

9:17 p.m. —  Make it the go-ahead run at the plate for L.A. Teoscar Hernandez comes to the dish against Scherzer after Max Muncy walked to load the bases with one out. Can the Dodgers answer?

9:12 p.m. —  Just like that, the Dodgers have the tying run at the plate. Scherzer allows back-to-back hits to Will Smith and Freddie Freeman to start the fourth.

End of third inning: Blue Jays 3, Dodgers 0

9:08 p.m. —  Wrobleski strikes out Varsho to prevent further damage. But the Blue Jays will take a 3-0 advantage into the fourth inning, and Bo Bichette is a few innings from becoming a franchise legend thanks to his Game 7 swing.

9:07 p.m. —  That was Bichette's first home run this postseason after being injured up until the World Series. It came at a great time, sending Rogers Centre into a frenzy.

9:05 p.m. —  Out comes Shohei Ohtani, with three runs on his Game 7 line. He'll continue to hit tonight, but his arm just wasn't all there in his biggest pitching moment of his MLB career. Justin Wrobleski is in for L.A., and he allows a hit to Barger.

Blue Jays 3, Dodgers 0

9:02 p.m. 3-RUN HOME RUN —  Bo Bichette makes Shohei Ohtani pay for walking Guerrero Jr., and the Blue Jays have a major advantage in Game 7. On Ohtani's first pitch to Bichette, he's all over a breaking ball, sending it into the left field seats.

It's 3-0 Toronto. One way or another, if they can protect a three-run lead, the Blue Jays will be World Champions.

9:01 p.m. —  The Dodgers pitch around Guerrero after a ball got away from Will Smith, advancing the runner to third. An intentional walk puts two on for Bo Bichette.

8:59 p.m. —  Another single for the Blue Jays, as Springer punches one into left field. Lukes puts down a sacrifice bunt to move Springer to second base.

8:58 p.m. —  Ohtani is approaching 50 pitches as we begin the bottom of the third. Springer leads off.

8:52 p.m. —  Max Scherzer has done everything the Blue Jays needed from him so far. He's through three scoreless innings with another 1-2-3 frame; after striking out Rojas, Scherzer benefited from a nice defensive play in left field from Lukes. Ohtani almost had an extra-base hit, but Lukes ended the frame.

End of second inning: Dodgers 0, Blue Jays 0

8:47 p.m. —  Shohei Ohtani comes through for the Dodgers. On a 99 mph fastball, he gets Gimenez swinging to end another Toronto threat. Both teams have gotten baserunners, but no advantages have been taken in the quest for a title yet.

8:44 p.m. —  Our first pressure moment of Game 7 is here: the bases are now loaded with two outs, Ohtani on the mound, for Andres Gimenez. Clement also singled to load the bases.

8:41 p.m. —  Addison Barger singles to put two runners on, then Alejandro Kirk pops out. It's two on, one out for Daulton Varsho against Ohtani, who is over 30 pitches.

8:38 p.m. —  Bo Bichette walks, giving the Blue Jays another leadoff runner.

8:34 p.m. —  No troubles for Max Scherzer so far. The veteran gets a 1-2-3 top of the second.

8:31 p.m. —  Max Muncy goes down swinging vs. Scherzer to start the second.

End of first inning: Dodgers 0, Blue Jays 0

8:27 p.m. —  We're scoreless through one frame of Game 7. The Dodgers worked a strike-em-out, throw-em-out, as Ohtani got Vlad Jr. Looking, then Will Smith fired a throw to get George Springer in no-man's-land easily.

8:24 p.m. —  Shohei Ohtani's first strikeout comes against Nathan Lukes on a splitter. He's the first out in the bottom of the first, and up comes Guerrero Jr.

8:21 p.m. —  George Springer, injured or not, continues to find a way to rake. Like Ohtani, he leads off with a single for the Blue Jays.

8:16 p.m. —  The Dodgers got some hard contact — all three balls in play were hit at over 100 mph, per Fabian Ardaya — but Scherzer still gets out of the first inning unscathed. Ohtani advanced to third on a fly ball, but Mookie Betts grounded out. Ohtani will now take the mound.

8:14 p.m. —  Ohtani singles to lead off Game 7, then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Makes a diving stop on a ground ball to first base to get Will Smith out. Ohtani is in scoring position.

8:11 p.m. —  Game 7 is under way as Scherzer fires in a ball to Ohtani.

Pregame

7:55 p.m. —  We are minutes away from Game 7 of the 2025 World Series. Will Toronto finally get back on top of the baseball world? Or will the Dodgers successfully defend their throne?

7:45 p.m. —  Toronto is ready for Max Scherzer to take the mound as we close out the 2025 MLB season tonight.

6:57 p.m. —  Curious why the Dodgers are choosing to start Ohtani, rather than bring him in the game as a reliever? That would be because of the "Shohei Ohtani rule," which plays a role in Dave Roberts' decisions on how to utilize his two-way star. If Ohtani was used as a reliever, the Dodgers would lose their DH spot in the lineup.

6:55 p.m. —  Dodgers starting pitchers have a 2.48 ERA and 0.92 WHIP this postseason, combined. Shohei Ohtani can add to that, but it's likely we also see Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow in Game 7.

6:43 p.m. —  It's unlikely we see him (unless it goes extra innings), but Game 7 tonight will be Clayton Kershaw's final MLB game, assuming he sticks by his announced plans to retire. Will he go out with another ring?

6:25 p.m. —  Max Scherzer is making some history tonight as a multi-time World Series Game 7 starter:

6:24 p.m. —  Two Game 7s this postseason, two hockey jerseys for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

5:50 p.m. —  Let's recap this wild World Series so far.

Game 1: Blue Jays 11, Dodgers 4. Addison Barger's grand slam was one of three Toronto homers.

Game 2: Dodgers 5, Blue Jays 1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitches another postseason CG.

Game 3:  Dodgers 6, Blue Jays 5. An 18-inning classic ends in a Freddie Freeman walk-off HR.

Game 4:  Blue Jays 6, Dodgers 2. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Homers to help Toronto bounce back.

Game 5:  Blue Jays 6, Dodgers 1. Rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage sets records with 12 strikeouts.

Game 6:  Dodgers 3, Blue Jays 1. L.A. Holds on late behind Yamamoto, Mookie Betts.

What's in store for Game 7 of a fantastic series?

5:43 p.m. —  Future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer gets the ball for the second Game 7 of his career. Here's Toronto's lineup as it again pursues its first title in decades:

5:41 p.m. —  Shohei Ohtani is officially on the mound tonight for the Dodgers. He likely won't last more than a few innings, pitching on some of the shortest rest of his career.

Here's L.A.'s Game 7 lineup:
