Although the Washington Nationals have already backed out of a trade offer involving shortstop CJ Abrams with the San Francisco Giants earlier this offseason, it may be in the Nationals' best interest to move the 2024 All-Star.

They already parted ways with top pitcher Mackenzie Gore, sending him to the Texas Rangers in exchange for a load of five prospects. If Washington is committed to moving towards the future, Abrams could be the next guy out.

The 25-year-old infielder has a ton of upside, mixing a power-speed combo while also getting it done on defense.

Reports have said that the Giants offered No. 44 prospect on the MLB Top 100 Prospects list, shortstop Josuar Gonzalez, but Washington declined the offer.

Whatever team is interested in Abrams would most likely have to come up with a deal involving multiple prospects.

The Athletic's Jim Bowden mentioned in an article that the Nationals aren't shopping CJ Abrams; however, the team is listening to offers involving him.

Bowden labeled the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners as teams that are a match for Abrams.

Abrams agreed to a one-year, $4.2 million deal to avoid arbitration with the Nationals this offseason. He remains under club control through the 2028 season.

After an All-Star season in 2024 that resulted in him hitting 20 home runs and stealing 31 bases, Abrams had a similar campaign the next year. Through 144 games, he hit 19 home runs while stealing 31 bases once again.

At 25 years old, the infielder continues to gain momentum with time.
