If the winter doldrums are keeping you down, prepare for some good news: MLB spring training is here.

Indeed, players are beginning their yearly migrations to Arizona and Florida. Pitchers and catchers have started to report and soon, other position players will follow as the 30 MLB teams look to ramp up their players and get them ready for the season.

This year, spring training has started a bit earlier than usual for some of the world's best players. That's thanks to the World Baseball Classic, a tournament that takes place roughly every four years to determine the best baseball-playing country in the world.

As such, MLB players will soon be in action again. And while the games may not be as exciting as those in the regular season, spring training does mark the return of baseball; that will be enough to make many lifelong fans of the sport smile.

But when exactly will each team begin its training and play its first games? Here's a breakdown of MLB's spring training dates, schedules and procedures.

MLB spring training dates 2023

  • Pitchers & catchers report: Feb. 15-17
  • Rest of position players report: Feb. 20-21

MLB's spring training report dates vary by team, but they are largely in the same week-long window. Most pitchers and catchers will report to their respective teams by Feb. 16, as just one team — the Guardians — will have them do so on Feb. 17. Meanwhile, all other position players will report by Feb. 21.

Spring training 2023 comes with an additional quirk, as it is being held amid the backdrop of the World Baseball Classic. Players participating in that tournament will arrive earlier at each respective position group, with pitchers reporting to their teams on Feb. 13 and position players arriving on Feb. 16.

Below is a rundown of when each team will require its players to report to its spring training facility in 2023.

MLB spring training schedules 2023

MLB camps don't all start at the same time, but they do jump into game mode on the same date. The Cactus League — based in Arizona — will begin with a pair of games on Feb. 24 while the Grapefruit League (in Florida) will start play the following day on Feb. 25.

Games will continue daily from that point forward.

World Baseball Classic teams will also be involved in spring training; they will play at various spring training facilities on March 8 and March 9 as they prepare for the tournament.

And from Sunday, March 26 through Tuesday, March 28, MLB teams will move away from their spring training facilities and play some exhibitions at MLB ballparks. Two days after those are completed will be Opening Day, during which all 30 MLB clubs will play.

MLB spring training locations 2023

MLB's preseason is unique when compared to that of other major American sports. Instead of playing at their normal stadiums or training somewhere within their home state, teams travel and create hubs in Arizona and Florida.

The clubs then face off against one another in a schedule that mimics that of MLB. However, it comes with significantly less travel, as all the clubs that they face during spring training are located within the same state.

Below is a look at where each team plays. Teams in the Grapefruit League will be stationed in Florida while Cactus League clubs will have Arizona-based locations.
