A few players from last year's Futures Game are already big league contributors. Examples include Yordan Alvarez (Astros), Keston Hiura (Brewers) and Fernando Tatis Jr. (Padres). It's likely that several youngsters in the latest showcase will soon break through to MLB as well.

What time is the 2019 Futures Game?

The annual contest will take place Sunday, July 7, at 7 p.m. ET.

What channel is the Futures Game on TV?

It will be broadcast on MLB Network and streamed on MLB.com. The announcers for the matchup are Greg Amsinger, Harold Reynolds and Jim Callis.

Where will the Futures Game be played?

Progressive Field in Cleveland will host the Futures Game in the buildup to the 2019 MLB All-Star Game.

Which MLB team has the most Futures Game prospects?

Barring late changes to the rosters, the Rays, Mariners, Padres, Marlins and Tigers are tied for the lead with three Futures Game members apiece. Every MLB team has at least one representative.

What is the format for the competition?

Unlike in previous seasons, when the Futures Game pitted a World team against a U.S. team, this year's version is separated by American League and National League. The change makes the contest more comparable to the MLB All-Star Game than it was in the past.

Another difference is the length of the game. For the first time, it will be an abbreviated seven-inning affair.

Starting lineups will be determined by Jim Thome and Dennis Martinez, the respective managers for each squad.

Who votes on the Futures Game roster?

MiLB.com writes that rosters are determined as such:

"Major League Baseball, in conjunction with MLB Pipeline, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team."

How long has the Futures Game existed?

The Futures Game has been around since 1999, when Boston hosted the first edition.
