Where is Alejandro Kirk from?
Kirk is a native from Tijuana, Mexico. He comes from a family of baseball players; his father played amateur ball, while his elder brother, Juan, plays for Mexican League side Pericos de Puebla.
Kirk was discovered while playing at an international showcase held by the Mexican League's Toros de Tijuana in 2016. Toronto signed him shortly thereafter, agreeing to pay $30,000 to Toros to land the diminutive catcher. Kirk only netted $7,500 of that total — such was the nature of the international signing system at the time. Nonetheless, it was money well-spent for the Blue Jays.
