What's better than the Home Run Derby?

The All-Star Game is the premier event of MLB All-Star weekend, but it's tough to compete with the entertainment the derby provides. Eight sluggers will be mashing baseballs into the seats at Truist Park in Atlanta on Monday night, and this year's field has a bit of everything.

From the hometown hero in Ronald Acuna Jr. to a fresh new face in Cal Raleigh, there's something for everyone as these hitters aim to build an All-Star weekend legacy.

Have any players won the Home Run Derby multiple times? Here's a closer look at the leaderboard.

Has anyone won more than one Home Run Derby?

Four players have won the Home Run Derby multiple times. Ken Griffey Jr., who is the all-time leader with three wins, stood alone as the only player with multiple wins from 1998 until Prince Fielder won his second derby in 2012.

Yoenis Cespedes and Pete Alonso both joined the club by winning the event back-to-back. Alonso made a run at winning a third derby and tying Griffey's record in 2022, but he lost in the semifinals. Alonso is back for a fourth consecutive Home Run Derby and again has his sights set on title No. 3.

No one else participating in the 2023 Home Run Derby has a chance to win a second title, however. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reached the final round as a rookie in 2019 but lost to Alonso, while Julio Rodriguez lasted until the final round in 2022 before losing to Soto.

Cespedes and Alonso showed how quickly one win can turn to two, so don't count out any of these powerful bats from joining the list in the near future.

Most Home Run Derby wins

Griffey still stands alone with three Home Run Derby wins, and the list of multi-time derby winners beyond him is a short one.

Alonso, Cespedes, and Fielder have all joined the list in recent years, and Alonso has a chance to move up the ranks if he can come out of Seattle a derby winner.
