Blue Jays vs. Mariners final score, results: George Springer's heroic home run wins ALCS Game 7, sends Toronto to World Series image

JUMP TO:

George Springer is the only member of the Toronto Blue Jays' offensive core with previous championship pedigree. His three appearances in the Fall Classic, and status as an all-time postseason performer, has made him a leader for Toronto. And in the biggest moment possible on Monday night, Springer came through.

The Blue Jays took down the Seattle Mariners 4-3 in ALCS Game 7, as Springer's three-run home run in the seventh inning was the difference in a pressure-packed matchup. For most of the night, the Mariners were tracking to make their first-ever World Series bid — Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh, Seattle's superstar bats, both homered. Instead, Canada would have a lot to celebrate by the end of the night.

Daulton Varsho's RBI single in the top of the first tied the game at one run, but it was Springer's heroic swing in the seventh that brought the Blue Jays all the way back in just one play. While starter Shane Bieber found some trouble on the mound for Toronto, the rest of John Schneider's pitching staff picked it up; starters Kevin Gausman and Chris Bassitt both pitched scoreless innings in relief.

It was Jeff Hoffman who sealed the deal, winning the AL pennant for the Blue Jays by preventing the Mariners from scoring just one run to keep their season alive. By striking out Rodriguez, he secured the Blue Jays' upcoming date with the Los Angeles Dodgers — and now, Toronto is four wins from a title.

Blue Jays vs. Mariners updates, highlights from ALCS Game 7

All times ET.

Final: Blue Jays 4, Mariners 3

11:00 p.m. —  For the first time since 1993, the Toronto Blue Jays are making a trip to the Fall Classic. George Springer's home run becomes legendary, a go-ahead shot that eventually sent the Blue Jays back to the World Series. For the Mariners, it's heartbreak, unable to make their first World Series despite a 3-1 lead in Game 7 and various chances throughout the series.

Jeff Hoffman strikes out Julio Rodriguez to win the pennant.

10:59 p.m. —  Dominic Canzone, a pinch-hitter for Seattle, strikes out. Hoffman is cruising. One out for the Blue Jays, and they'll go to the World Series. Here comes Julio Rodriguez.

10:55 p.m. —  Down goes Leo Rivas. Hoffman gets him swinging. Toronto is two outs from the pennant and a date with the Dodgers.

10:53 p.m. —  Jeff Hoffman is in for the Blue Jays to pitch the top of the ninth. He can send the squad to the World Series with three outs.

End of eighth inning: Blue Jays 4, Mariners 3

10:51 p.m. —  Somehow, the Mariners get out of the jam with no damage. The double play was huge, and with it, Seattle needs just one run to keep this Game 7 alive. Buckle up. The Mariners will have their eight-nine-leadoff hitters due up with their season, and a World Series trip on the line.

Can Toronto close it out, returning to the Fall Classic?

10:49 p.m. —  Seattle gets a huge break. Barger had a hard-hit ball to first base, but it's right at Josh Naylor, who then makes it two outs by stepping on first base. Still, there's a runner on third with two down.

10:47 p.m. —  Toronto is threatening to add massive insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. Varsho and Clement have both gotten hits off Andres Munoz, and the infield is in for Seattle with nobody out.

10:42 p.m. —  Bassitt works a 1-2-3 inning, and the Mariners now have three outs left to save their season. This game completely turned around thanks to George Springer.

10:38 p.m. —  Chris Bassitt is now pitching for the Blue Jays. Another starter is on to contribute in Game 7.

10:38 p.m. —  George Springer, and Blue Jays fans, were hyped.

End of seventh inning: Blue Jays 4, Mariners 3

10:34 p.m. —  Bazardo keeps the damage to Springer's homer, but that was a ton of damage. Now, Seattle's facing elimination with six outs remaining for it. Everything was going the Mariners' way. Can they respond?

Blue Jays 4, Mariners 3

10:31 p.m. 3-RUN HOME RUN —  Are you kidding me, George Springer? One of the greatest sluggers in MLB postseason history adds perhaps the biggest of his career: a three-run shot that gives the Blue Jays the lead with just two innings remaining until the World Series.

It is loud in Rogers Centre. Toronto has flipped this game upside down thanks to its leadoff hitter, Springer, who faced potential injury issues as recently as Game 5. It's a new all-time Blue Jays moment, regardless of tonight's result.

10:27 p.m. —  Toronto gets a sacrifice bunt to move two runners into scoring position. There's one out, and Woo is being pulled for Eduard Bazardo. Buckle up.

10:25 p.m. —  Woo walks Barger to start the bottom of the seventh, then Isiah Kiner-Falefa singles up the middle. The go-ahead run is at the plate with nobody out for Toronto.

10:19 p.m. —  Gausman gets out of the inning with a groundout from Jorge Polanco. Now, Addison Barger will lead off for Toronto, which needs at least two runs in the next nine outs to keep its season alive.

10:16 p.m. —  Kevin Gausman is in for the top of the seventh, his first-ever relief appearance as a Blue Jay. However, he intentionally walked Cal Raleigh, even with the bases empty, then walked Josh Naylor. Seattle has more runners on with two down.

End of sixth inning: Mariners 3, Blue Jays 1

10:08 p.m. —  The Mariners are nine outs away. Woo allowed a single up the middle to Alejandro Kirk, but Varsho lined out and Clement grounded out. Toronto hasn't been able to string together hits in key moments since the first inning.

10:03 p.m. —  Bryan Woo wins a nine-pitch battle against Vladimir Guerrero Jr. To open the bottom of the seventh, striking him out.

9:57 p.m. —  Seranthony Dominguez comes in and works an easy top of the sixth, keeping Seattle's bats silent for a rare time tonight. Can the Blue Jays get their own bats going, with just 12 outs between them and elimination?

End of fifth inning: Mariners 3, Blue Jays 1

9:51 p.m. —  Add defense to the things going Seattle's way tonight. Crawford makes a clean double play by himself, tagging second base then making a sweet mid-air throw to end the fifth inning. That also ensured Woo wouldn't face Vladimir Guerrero Jr. With runners on.

9:47 p.m. —  George Kirby's final line: 4.0 innings, one run, four hits, one walk, three strikeouts. Seattle goes to Bryan Woo in the bottom of the fifth, with the potential to have the usual starter move through multiple innings if things go well.

9:46 p.m. —  Raleigh's homer is all the Mariners get in the top of the fifth, but it's a massive insurance run. Big Dumper now has a whopping 65 home runs between the regular season and postseason in 2025.

That's the most single-season total homers in American League history.

Mariners   3, Blue Jays 1

9:42 p.m. HOME RUN —  Big. Dumper. Cal Raleigh connects on his fifth home run of the 2025 postseason and fourth of the series, taking Varland deep into right field to extend the Mariners' lead. Seattle's star bats have come through in Game 7.

End of fourth inning: Mariners 2, Blue Jays 1

9:35 p.m. —  Addison Barger got a single, but otherwise, George Kirby remains solid in the bottom of the fourth. How deep can the Mariners ride him in Game 7?

9:32 p.m. —  Varland retires Julio Rodriguez for the first time tonight, ending the top of the fourth.

9:25 p.m. —  Bieber's Game 7 is over, and he came out with some hard feelings for home plate umpire Quinn Wolcott. Bieber walked nine-hitter Victor Robles to put two runners on with two outs, but he didn't like some of the ball-strike calls. Either way, he's been pulled for Louis Varland as Toronto goes to the bullpen.

9:21 p.m. —  Shane Bieber has now allowed seven hits through 3.1 innings of work. JP Crawford smacked a double into left field with one out in the fourth, and yet again, Seattle has a runner in scoring position.

End of third inning: Mariners 2, Blue Jays 1

9:15 p.m. —  Kirby settles in a bit more in the bottom half of the third. Toronto goes down 1-2-3, including Kirby's second strikeout. Seattle takes its advantage into the fourth.

9:07 p.m. —  Shane Bieber gets out of the third with just the home run allowed. Jorge Polanco also got a hit, but Randy Arozarena went down swinging to end the Mariners' threat. Still, Seattle has capitalized against Bieber in the early action.

Mariners 2, Blue Jays 1

9:01 p.m. HOME RUN —  Julio Rodriguez breaks the tie in a big way. The Mariners center fielder blasts one into left field, and it gets into the Rogers Centre seats for a solo home run. Rodriguez is 2-2 already today, coming through when Seattle needs him most.

End of second inning: Mariners 1, Blue Jays 1

8:55 p.m. —  Both starters found a little trouble in the second inning, but got out unscathed. Andres Gimenez reached on an infield single, but George Kirby gets George Springer to ground out to end the second.

8:47 p.m. —  Seattle's bats remained hot in the top of the second, getting two hits, then a sacrifice bunt that moved the runners into scoring position. Still, Bieber escapes. He struck out Leo Rivas, then got Victor Robles to ground out as the Mariners strand two.

End of first inning: Mariners 1, Blue Jays 1

8:42 p.m. —  Both teams settle for one run in the first inning. Game 7 has already had some back-and-forth action, as we head to the second frame tied at one.

Mariners 1, Blue Jays 1

8:37 p.m. RBI SINGLE —  Just like that, we're tied once again. Daulton Varsho makes it 1-1 with another hit, and Kirby is in some early trouble for Seattle.

8:34 p.m. —   Toronto his now threatening early runs as well. George Springer walked, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Got another base hit. Two runs are on with one out for George Kirby.

8:23 p.m. —  A whacky play has already come in Game 7. As Jorge Polanco grounded out into a potential double play, Ernie Clement's throw to first base hit Naylor, the runner, right in the helmet. However, the umpires rule it a double-play anyway, as Naylor lept up towards the ball instead of sliding into second base.

The top of the first comes to an end after Seattle's 1-0 start.

Mariners 1, Blue Jays 0

8:18 p.m. RBI SINGLE —  We have our first run in Game 7 already. Josh Naylor comes through for the Mariners, knocking a hit into right field that scores Rodriguez. Seattle jumps on Shane Bieber early.

8:15 p.m. —  Bieber gets Cal Raleigh swinging for a key first out in the top of the first.

8:10 p.m. —  They are under way in Game 7. Shane Bieber allows a leadoff double to Julio Rodriguez, and Seattle already has a runner in scoring position.

Pregame

7:58 p.m. —  There's a lot on the line between two hungry franchises tonight.

7:45 p.m. —  George Springer is ready for Game 7. He got hit in the knee by a pitch in Game 5, but it didn't stop him from playing in Game 6.

6:45 p.m. —  Vladdy Jr. Pulled up in an Auston Matthews Maple Leafs jersey, which is stylish. But he's also taking some heat from Blue Jays fans; the Maple Leafs are 0-7 in their last seven Game 7s in the playoffs, and winless with Matthews. Will it be bad luck for Toronto, or will Guerrero break some kind of curse?

6:44 p.m. —  Here's how the Blue Jays will line up tonight:

6:43 p.m. —  Here's the Mariners' Game 7 lineup:

6:39 p.m. —  It will be George Kirby vs. Shane Bieber to begin today's game on the mound. Kirby has made three appearances this postseason, most recently allowing eight runs in four innings of ALCS Game 3. Kirby allowed a combined three runs in 10 innings in two outings against the Tigers in the ALDS.

Meanwhile, Bieber will be making his third appearance of the postseason. He went six strong innings in Game 3 of this series, striking out eight Mariners with two earned runs.
