The New York Yankees opened the playoffs under fire, with criticism aimed at manager Aaron Boone after he chose not to start Jazz Chisholm. The decision sparked tension in the media spotlight, prompting Chisholm to clarify that there’s no bad blood between him and his skipper.

“There was never a problem between me and Aaron Boone. He's been my manager all year and I've stood behind him all year. We always have disagreements—I mean, I played third base this year and we had a little bit of a disagreement in that—but at the end of the day, I always stand with Boonie because he understands where I come from. He knows I'm a passionate player and he knows I wear my feelings on my sleeve. He knows that I'm here to compete,” Chisholm told the media.

While the Yankees managed to survive the first round of the playoffs, their pitching has struggled significantly against the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.

“Fried aimed to lead a bounce-back showing for the Yanks, one that could have evened the American League Division Series before it shifted to New York. Instead, an uncharacteristic start by the 31-year-old southpaw became a reason for Toronto’s 13-7 win that pushed its advantage in the series to 2-0,” Jake Rill wrote.

No team can have too much starting pitching, and that’s why the Yankees may be eyeing a big move: trading for Sandy Alcantara.

“The Yankees could choose the overkill way forward with their rotation. A trade for Alcantara would fit the bill, as he's a former Cy Young Award winner who finished 2025 on an upswing with a 2.68 ERA in his last eight starts,” Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer wrote. “Trade Proposal: New York Yankees get RHP Sandy Alcantara; Miami Marlins get OF Jasson Domínguez, RHP Carlos Lagrange (Yankees No. 5).”

Alcantara didn’t have his best season in 2025, but that's to be expected after returning from a serious injury. Still, his track record proves he can be one of the league’s most dominant arms.

If the Yankees manage to pull off this trade, their starting rotation would become one of the most dangerous in baseball. With Alcantara’s future in Miami uncertain, New York could be in a prime position to make a move.
