The New York Yankees have made it to yet another playoff appearance, and will be facing off against their eternal rivals, the Boston Red Sox, in the Wild Card. However, just because they made the playoffs doesn’t mean they can forget about what’s next.

Eventually the playoffs will end, and the offseason will begin. The Yankees being the Yankees will make a splash, and Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller believes it will be huge, with the Yankees stealing Pete Alonso from their cross-town rival, the New York Mets

The biggest question here isn't the roster fit or the willingness of the team to make the investment. It's whether Alonso would be willing to do this to Mets fans…The Yankees do kind of owe the Mets one, though, for outbidding them on Juan Soto this past winter. And after a few years of hoping for the best and not getting a whole lot out of late-career Anthony Rizzo and Paul Goldschmidt, the Yankees could be looking to make a long-term investment at first base for the first time since signing Mark Teixiera in 2009,” Miller wrote.

Alonso had a great year this year, slashing .272/.347/.524/.871 with 38 home runs and 126 RBI over a full season of 162 games.

Like Miller said, the Yankees do owe the Mets one, as they lost Soto to the Mets last offseason. It’s only fair the Mets lose a superstar to the Yankees.

Alonso joining the Yankees would immediately put him in a better situation, and he wouldn’t have to move. Hopefully the Yankees realize this, and make sure to be the first phone call to Alonso this offseason.
