Yankees predicted to steal $150 million two-time All-Star from division rivals, would be serious upgrade from Anthony Volpe image

The New York Yankees have been far behind their division rivals in terms of making moves this offseason; The Toronto Blue Jays, the Boston Red Sox, the Baltimore Orioles, and even the Tampa Bay Rays have all made moves to upgrade their rosters.

Now, it’s time for New York to finally make a move. Just Baseball’s Ethan Hyatt believes it’ll be a stunner: the Yanks will poach two-time All-Star and World Series hero Bo Bichette from the Blue Jays.

“For ages, the Yankees have been among the top destinations for star players, and Bichette has certainly tormented them plenty over his years in Toronto. While the Blue Jays could still be in the mix for Bichette, New York could make a statement by swooping in and grabbing the two-time All-Star. Bo showed his skill set on a global stage during the 2025 World Series, including a three-run home run early in Game 7 to put Toronto in the lead, and the Yankees are going to be on the prowl for an improvement at shortstop,” Hyatt wrote.

This past season, Bichette slashed.311/.357/.483/.840 with 44 doubles, 18 home runs, and 94 RBI in 139 games. While he’s even more of a defensive liability than Anthony Volpe, he’s leaps and bounds better than him offensively.

Also, Bichette is projected to get a five-year, $150 million contract from ESPN. If that’s the case, even with a Yankees team trying to shed payroll, it still works for their budget.

Hopefully, the Yankees swoop in soon, as the Blue Jays will do the most to try to keep their hero in Toronto.
