The New York Yankees aren't done yet.

In fact, they may be calling around their own division for deals.

According to the New York Post's Joel Sherman, the Yankees are interested in possibly acquiring one of three potential shortstops from the Tampa Bay Rays.

The three names:

  • Ha-Seong Kim
  • Jose Caballero
  • Taylor Walls

Those are three glove-first players, although Kim has some hitting success in his past for the Padres, and Caballero has great speed.

They are the type of acquisitions that don't make headlines but do help win games in late situations where various strategies are called for.

Another shortstop would also add a bit of insurance if Anthony Volpe's defensive or offensive inconsistencies continue.

The Yankees and manager Aaron Boone still believe in Volpe, so a deal like this wouldn't be to replace him. It'd just be to strengthen the overall depth of the roster in pursuit of a return to the World Series.
