Yankees get good news on Freddy Peralta amid Brewers trade demands image

The New York Yankees haven't been spending much this offseason, and they've also not been involved in the trade market either.

Overall, it's been a lackluster offseason for the Yankees, but that doesn't mean there won't be a big move coming down the road.

In fact, as Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic point out, the Yankees have the means to trade for Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers thanks to having the perfect compensation the Brewers are seeking for their ace.

Yankees are great fit for Freddy Peralta amid Brewers demands

"If the Milwaukee Brewers are going to trade All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta, they ideally will want the return to include a young, major-league-ready replacement," Rosenthal and Sammon report.

Fortunately for the Yankees, as the duo from The Athletic points out, they have two potential trade targets for the Brewers in the Peralta trade talks.

Carlos Lagrange and Elmer Rodriguez could be solid options for the Yankees to part with for Peralta this winter. Both right-handers are atop the Yankees prospect rankings and would be tough players to part with.

Even though neither has made their MLB debut just yet, they're getting close and would be more than worthwhile additions for the Brewers.

Losing Peralta, the two-time All-Star who's coming off his best season in 2025, with a 2.70 ERA and an MLB-best 17 wins, wouldn't be an easy thing to come to terms with.

But if the Yankees give up one of Lagrange or Rodriguez, they likely would be able to convince the Brewers to part with Peralta this winter.

The Yankees aren't the only team that would make for a good trade partner for Peralta this winter, with the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers also having the young pitching to acquire Peralta.

After missing on Edward Cabrera, Brian Cashman and company could turn to Peralta as their big rotation addition this winter. And with two great young pitching prospects, the Yankees have the means to trade with the Brewers for Peralta.
