The New York Yankees have one of their biggest offseasons yet ahead of them, as they try to craft a roster that can finally end their 15-year World Series drought. However, it seems like they’ve already limited themselves to what upgrades they can choose.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman has revealed some updates on the state of the roster, and from what he’s said, it seems like New York will not be pursuing the top free agent of the offseason, Kyle Tucker.

According to Cashman, Tucker has not visited the Yankees’ complex at all this offseason, and it seems like he has no plans to either. On top of that, Cashman noted that the Yanks’ lineup is too left-handed, which probably means they’ll only go after right-handed hitters this offseason.

So, with the fact that Tucker hasn’t visited the Yankees, and that he’s a lefty, it seems very unlikely New York will pursue him. It’s a shame, however, as he was a superstar last season for the Chicago Cubs

With the Cubs, he slashed.266/.377/.464/.841 with 25 doubles, 22 home runs, 73 RBI, and 25 stolen bases in 136 games played. He also has a Gold Glove, so he would definitely be a defensive upgrade.

Another reason this is probably true is because of his price tag. Tucker will command a hefty contract, and Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has already mentioned he wants to cut payroll, not add to it.

Hopefully, the Yankees do find the upgrades they need. Otherwise, completely disregarding the top free agent of the class might come back to bite them.
