The New York Yankees are coming off a solid season where they found themselves in the postseason once again. They would take down their division rivals, the Boston Red Sox, in the Wild Card, but would see their season end against the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.

Now with the season over, the front office has turned its attention to putting together a better product for the 2026 season. However, they have been relatively quiet so far this winter.

The Bronx Bombers have made only a small number of moves, nothing league-altering either. They retained Trent Grisham, signed Amed Rosario to a one-year deal, signed Paul Blackburn on a one-year deal, and brought back Ryan Yarbrough on a one-year deal as well.

While the Yankees have made a few additions, you cannot overlook the subtractions. They have lost Luke Weaver, Devin Williams, and could potentially lose Cody Bellinger.

The club needs to go out and either re-sign Bellinger or strike a deal with another difference-maker, or the fanbase will not be too happy when Spring Training rolls around.

Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer makes the case for Bellinger to return, and if not, they could turn their attention to other top names on the open market.

"The most straightforward thing the Yankees can do is re-sign Cody Bellinger. He should certainly want to go back to New York, as Yankee Stadium was the factor in his return to form in 2025. If not Bellinger, then perhaps Kyle Tucker or Bo Bichette. And after whiffing on Cabrera, it should be Freddy Peralta-or-bust on the pitching front."

Bellinger was great this past season with the Yankees, and the fanbase would love for him to return. If not, Bo Bichette or Kyle Tucker could be the backup options.

And with the club without Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon to start the new season, they need to find another frontline starter. They could see what it would take for the Milwaukee Brewers to trade Freddy Peralta, who would be a great ace until the two can return.
