Yankees’ Cody Bellinger reportedly might wait for Kyle Tucker to sign to raise up price image

New York Yankees free agent Cody Bellinger is represented by Scott Boras, undoubtedly the best agent in the world. All Boras has done throughout his time in professional baseball is ensure his players get paid like no other.

This offseason, that might mean Bellinger waits a bit to take a new deal.

It remains uncertain what the Yankees want to do with Bellinger on that front, as they might have to show interest in other free agents before he signs.

However, we can assume that Boras will use Kyle Tucker’s situation to get his client paid.

According to the latest from Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, that may be the case.

“Those signings were just the appetizers for the rest of the position-player menu, because the biggest names remain available.

“Kyle Tucker, Cody Bellinger, Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette should see their markets begin to heat up, especially with few players on the trade market of their caliber. Tucker has already visited the Blue Jays, though the Yankees, Mets and Dodgers are lurking as potential suitors. Bellinger could wait until Tucker sets the market before making his decision,” he wrote.

If Tucker were to come out and land a $400-plus million deal, it feels safe to suggest that Boras will be looking for at least $225-plus million for his client.

And in his defense, it isn’t unfair to suggest that Bellinger is worth that kind of money if Tucker were to get $400 million.
