The New York Yankees are always one of the biggest offseason spenders in the Major Leagues. They are also linked to the top trade candidates, and Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal is no different.
With an ongoing contract dispute with the Tigers, and his odds of becoming a free agent after 2026 very high, there is speculation that Skubal could be traded by Detroit. The Yankees would likely be one of his landing spots if he were available.
Both the fans and the organization would love to trade for Skubal. But, as Woodward Sports Network shared on Twitter/x, Skubal was approached by a Yankees fan who asked him to sign his Yankees hat, and in response, Skubal trolled the Yankees fan, clearly denying the autograph request.
Tarik Skubal trolls Yankees fans with response to autograph request
In the video, Skubal was seen smiling and jokingly brushing the Yankees hat away as he said, "That's not my hat, get out of here. That's not my hat."

On the same day he turned 29 years old, Skubal trolled Yankees fans with his response to an autograph request. If the hat were a Tigers one, he wouldn't have brushed it off and joked with the fan asking for his autograph.
But, amid his ongoing contract dispute, uncertain future in Detroit, and trade rumors, this response from Skubal is a hilarious one.
The Tigers' ace has shown no indication that he wants to depart by way of trade. The contract impasse between Skubal and Detroit is hundreds of millions of dollars apart, but he's shown no ill will towards the team.
Rather, he's loyal to the team, and as Robert Murray of Fansided.com wrote, Skubal "loves" the team and city.
The Yankees could wind up making a push for Skubal by way of trade or in free agency after the 2026 season. But, at least for now, the two-time AL Cy Young winner isn't interested in the Yankees, as he shut down a Yankees fan's request to sign his Yankees hat.
