The New York Yankees have been catching a lot of flak for their loss to the Boston Red Sox in game one of the Wild Card series, when they had multiple chances to win. Fans and critics have held nothing back when voicing their displeasure.

Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith is one of those critics, going off on a tirade on First Take today about Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who he believes to be the main reason for their loss. “At the end of this show today, I’m gonna call the ESPN executives to tell them to leave a spot open…for Aaron Boone, to come back to commentating on baseball games, because he damn sure don't need to be managing after the things he did yesterday,” Stephen A. said.

Stephen A. continued, listing all the bad decisions Boone made regarding last night’s loss.

“You don’t start Jazz Chisolm. Can you consider what kind of year that he’s had? You can’t do that to that man…The guy that brought you [to the playoffs] is the guy you put in the lineup. By the way, pulling Max Fried? Who was pitching shutout ball? The Yankees haven’t won since 2009, and you do something like this?” Stephen A. ranted.

Stephen A. made a bunch of valid points. Chisholm has been a key hitter in the lineup this year, and not including him just doesn’t make sense. Benching an All-Star for someone who hits marginally better against a certain pitcher isn’t a smart move. Plus, pulling Fried when he’s carrying the lead by himself wasn’t smart either.

Hopefully the Yankees have better luck tonight, otherwise they’ll join all the other teams on the couch, watching the playoffs continue without them.
