The New York Yankees have made no significant moves this offseason, to the ire of fans. There are some big names left, but they need to act quickly in order to consider this offseason a success.

Fansided’s Chris Landers proposed that the Yanks first let Cody Bellinger walk, and replace him by trading for Chicago White Sox All-Star center fielder Luis Robert Jr. They then could use the money they saved by getting Robert, and go for one of the last big fish on the market.

“But hear me out: Why not Robert? He's a much better center fielder than anyone New York currently has under contract, and he crushes lefty pitching — a must for a Yankees team that struggled in that department in 2025. With arms like Elmer Rodriguez, Ben Hess, Bryce Cunningham, Carlos Lagrange and more at the top of the farm system, New York would be well-positioned to get a deal done, and it could allow them to forgo Bellinger entirely and either make a run at Tucker or someone like Tatsuya Imai,” Landers wrote.

This past season, Robert slashed.223/.297/.364/.661 with 12 doubles, 14 home runs, and 53 RBI in 110 games played. However, put a lefty like him in Yankee Stadium, and his numbers are sure to skyrocket back to his All-Star days.

Playing on a perennial contender like the Yankees would also change his mindset as well. The change in scenery might be exactly what he needs to have a bounce-back season.

Hopefully, the Yankees start talks with the White Sox soon, as there are many teams that are also interested in Robert for the same reasons.
