Free agent outfielder Cody Bellinger is being scouted by Team USA to join them for the World Baseball Classic in March 2026, per New York Yankees insider Jack Curry

Bellinger remains a free agent so far through the first month of the offseason. He spent the 2025 with the Yankees, and was a key piece for them, hitting.272 with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs, while also displaying his versatility on defense, showing flashes of the former MVP capabilities in him.

Team USA’s roster to this point has multiple star MLB players on it, including his teammate from 2025, Aaron Judge. Per Underdog MLB, these are the confirmed players to be a part of Team USA currently:

  • Aaron Judge
  • Paul Skenes
  • Cal Raleigh
  • Kyle Schwarber
  • Bobby Witt Jr.
  • Corbin Carroll
  • Gunnar Henderson
  • Pete Crow-Armstrong
  • Will Smith
  • Brice Turang
  • Byron Buxton
  • Matthew Boyd
  • Garrett Whitlock

The Yankees will be aggressive in their pursuit of Bellinger this offseason after being one of their most important pieces in 2025. While it’s possible he plays with the best of America’s talent by next March, the Yankees are hopeful he’ll be back in the Bronx after the World Baseball Classic as they look to chase title number 28 in 2026.
