The New York Yankees are likely on the hunt for a new third baseman. They released DJ LeMahieu and moved Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base before the All-Star Break.
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Yankees "would love" to acquire Eugenio Suárez from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The All-Star third baseman is not blind to the trade rumors and recently spoke on them.
"I’m happy where I am, but I understand the game and the business," Suárez said at All-Star Media Day, per SNY's John Flanigan. “Whatever happens, if I stay it’s fine but if I go its okay too, I will do my best wherever I am -- right now I’m happy where I am.
"The Yankees are the Yankees," he continued, per Flanigan. "It’s a team that wants to win. They had success last year but are still hungry, if I go there I will do my best to try and help them win the World Series."
Suárez will be a free agent after the season, and the Diamondbacks are shaping up to be sellers at the trade deadline. The Yankees desperately need a third baseman, and SUárez could be the perfect rental.
